Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

This vehicle was advertised as a frame up restoration. Several parts were either missing or poor quality and not replaced. I called the seller and asked several questions about the vehicle to which I was not given straight answers and for some I was lied to. If I had been given straight answers, I would not have bought the vehicle. As is, I paid much more than the vehicle is worth. I have to spend a lot more money and much of my time to get it in the condition I believe it should have been in as advertised. Based on this experience, I would not buy another vehicle without inspecting it or having it inspected.

I found this '64 in a garage with 57k miles. After rebuilding the carb, installing new dual exhaust, and new tires, I drove it for about 20k miles up and down the West Coast. It was the 195h.p. 283 with powerglide and 3.08 rear gear. It consistantly returned 20m.p.g. on the highway and was comfortable during all day-all night 900 mile trips.
This car has garnered more attention than anything I've ever owned (I also have a 1969 396 SS Camaro) from young kids to us older folks who know what it is. It never fails to get questions from the gas attendant and passerby's. The most common question? Do you want to sell it? This one is not for sale, I'm saving it for my son.
After 20k miles with the 283 I swapped in a 355 aluminum headed reefed out engine and put another 10k on it. Also upgraded the brakes to 4 wheel disc, front and rear sway bars, quick ratio steering box, and late model vette wheels (14" factory wheels would not clear the disc brakes). It is a totally different animal now, not nearly as good on fuel, but will run with anything I come across in a straight line or through the curves.
I love the body style, the fact you rarely see another one, and that I found it as a low mile original sleeping for 20 years in a heated garage. As for the performance? It is a little lacking in stock form, it was very reliable once I put it back on the road, it was very comfortable but could have used air-conditioning when I was down in L.A. with it, and the quality was about what I would expect coming out of Detroit in the 60's....overall though I love this car and if we still have fuel in the next 15 years, my Son will continue to love it.
