I bought the 1994 Camaro about a month ago from Niel at New York Engines out of Deer Park, NY. I have only been able to drive it about two weeks now because it has been in the shop for two and a half weeks getting work done to it (they fixed the air conditioning, both power window motors, the power window switch, the coolant fan relay, and installed an aftermarket car stereo, for a total of $1974!) I ran across this car with only 20 minutes left to bid on it. The listing said that the motor was replaced, the convertible top had been repaired, that it came with an aftermarket 300 watt CD player with aftermarket speakers. All of this was a flat out lie! When we flew to NY from Nebraska to get the car it was missing the CD player and speakers, the convertible top had a large rip in the shape of a Z in it, and the fan relay was bypassed so I had to remove a wire from the battery every time I turned off the car (if I didn't the coolant fan would continue to run when the car was off and drain the battery), and the passenger side mirror was missing! I asked the seller for the relay, stereo, the mirror, and receipts for the motor replacement when we picked up the car, but they were conveniently locked in the office to which he "didn't have a key." I was told that all of these things (the mirror, receipts, fan relay, car stereo, and a new convertible top) would be mailed to me UPS on that next monday, it was saturday. I had Niel sign a letter of promise that they would be mailed. Days went by after we got home and nothing ever came in the mail. When I attempted to call him, I would always get his voicemail, and I would leave messages to call me because I wanted to know what was going on with the parts (I called twice a day for two weeks and left messages EVERY time)! Now the number is disconnected and the user cancelled his ebay account before I even got home! So, I took the car to a mechanic and had him look over the engine. He told me that it is the original engine (that it was not replaced with a new or used engine), and he came up with a list of things that needed to be done to it. I got suckered!!!
The only reason I bid on this car is because the listing said the motor was replaced, it had an aftermrket stereo and speakers, and new tires (which are much older than the listing stated), and I felt that the $2025 that I bid on the car for was worth it because it had all of these things. Well, it had NONE of those things! When I contacted ebay about the problems and MISREPRESENTATIONS in the listing they said there is nothing they could do about it because the car got me home! Yes, they have a buyer protection program that should protect the buyer against fraudulant claims and misrepresentation, but when someone like myself gets a lemon like this they won't help! Now, I have already spent $1974 on the car fixing things that the listing said it had, and the next thing I need to do is repair the convertible top before winter because it leaks water from EVERYWHERE! The 2 estimates I got on it were both over $1500! And that still won't get the car to the condition it was listed as, I will need to replace the motor very soon (the car has 165,000 miles on it) and that will cost around $5000, if I am lucky. So after $8500 the car will be in the condition it was listed as! I am very disappointed with this transaction and the so-called "buyer protection" that I will NEVER use ebay to buy another vehicle!!
