What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

BMW is truly the ultimate driving machine! I bought my first one on ebay in May07. 2001 X5 4.4i with 67,000 miles. Drove 3,300 miles home with it and absolutely fell in love with it. Even with the high miles, it handled better than any other NEW vehicle that I have ever owned. I believe that BMW will be a mainstay in my family's driveway. I highly recommend!

2001 BMW X5: Not what I expected at all...

You buy a car to drive- everyone has their own personal preferences. As a financial advisor I manage $14 Million of clients money. Wanting a 4WD vehicle (Rochester,NY winters are VERY unpredictable) and somthing that presents well (an image car basically) I turned to BMW family. Big Money Waster is what it stands for. Buying a 2 year old vehicle with 25,000 miles on it for $40,000 was a steep inverstment and the worst I have ever made. A month ago I traded the junker in and got a mere $11,000 at 89,000 miles. May I mention that it was a BMW certified vehicle with a 100,000 mile bologne factory warranty that covered nothing (but the dealer said almost everything). I had almost $6,000 worth of repairs that needed to be done on the car that wasnt covered under warranty when traded. The mechanics at the BMW dealership themselves told me to go buy a Lincoln Aviator or a Lexus RX330. Every other week the car was in the shop, and if it was covered I still had to pay a crappy $50 deductable. At Jaguar you are covered for 6yr/100K and its 99% covered and a '$0' deductable- why cant BMW do this? The rain sensing wipers went twice, tie rods, transmission (covered the 1st time only), and much more including me having to add oil every 5,000 miles. My wife had a 2001 Taurus with 189K miles on it. Including oil changes, we have only spent $2000 on it- TOTAL. Why is this not such a reliable car when its price matches some peoples mortgages? But I always got compliments on how beautiful it was, and no matter how old or dirty it got it always looked new. Will miss how it handles- BMW does build cars to drive and drive fast. My miles were gentle highway miles. Sad to see it leave but building a $500K house means not spending an extra $1000 a month fixing your BMW!!! My advice: STAY AWAY!

I love this truck. It has so many miles but doesnt even look like it.
The seller was so nice and helpful. He owns a hardware store in virginia and i am
in detroit,mi and he was very honest. I hope one day I meet him and go to his
store and buy some air blowers which he had given me one as a gift with the truck.
Thanks Robert,
God Bless

I'm an avid X5 fan. I currently own an 06' and love it (no issues.)
My 1st X5 was a 2001 3.0L.
It was fantastic car until it hit 80k. That's when the problems began. !st problem was the oil diffuser (not sure about terminology...white smoke poured out of exhaust and car died) was replaced twice by BMW. The 1st I paid for..the 2nd BWM covered because it was within 10 months of the 1st one. Then the electrical systems start to go haywire. The entire rear lighting systems went down also had to replace 3rd brake light twice. Then at 90k misc warning lights would turn on and off with true cause. Finally got rid of it @ 120k when dealer could not get oxygen sensor out of exhaust w/o charging me 1k+ to drop exhaust and replace all four.
The X5 is a remarkable vehicle. I highly recommend you have the 01 checked out by a cert BMW dealer prior to buying if at all possible. Trust me...you'll save yourself a lot of aggrivation. (think I'm ranting...check out consumer reports on this car.)

2001 BMW X5: 100K miles and still going strong
02/05/07

• Overall Satisfaction:
I bought my 2001 BMW X5 3.0i new in 2000 and since then, I've put more than 100,000 miles on it. I love this car/truck/whatever it is. I drive it very hard ... this thing's a blast to drive and it has stood the tests of time. The AWD system is superior ... it's amazing in snow/rain and on dry pavement the handling is not to be believed (almost no body roll; unreal in an SUV!).

The engineering and workmanship are spot on. I've kept up with most maintenance requirements and made a few repairs but for the most part, this has been one low-maintenance vehicle.

I love my X5, and I plan to keep it 'til it hits 200K -- honest!

Brad
