The car is gorgeous, with its rolling curves and soft lines. At first glance, it looks like a modern classic, offering up the gentle rolls found in the automobiles of another era. However, the inside tells another story. With the polished aluminum trim / accessories, the car is truly a mix of past and present.
Performance is on par with a turbo charged 4 cylinder motor. The Audi TT is not a light car, coming in at just under 3,000 lbs. However, with 180 HP that is easily modified to a near 300 WHP beast, the car is a dream. The stock TT handles marvelously, and upgraded suspension turns this car into a beast that handles on rails.
Downfalls.
Unfortunately, the TT requires lots of maintenance. Look at spending $2000 a year on routine maintenance. The timing belts MUST be changed every 60,000 miles. If you put this off, and risk snapping it, you are looking at a $4,500 head rebuild. A typical timing belt job replaced the belt, waterpump (the plastic impeller cracks and breaks off inside the engine causing it to seize), belt tensioner (common fail part), stretch bolts, and a thermostat is also sometimes changed as well.
-The haldex needs servicing every 20,000 miles.
-The oil NEEDS to always be changed at normal intervals.
-The Audi TT eats only Premium gas (at $3.59 a gallon currently).
Lastly - If you buy one, join all of the Audi TT user sites. It will save you thousands!

This car is loaded with features and is very reliable. It's futuristic design turns alot of heads! Most importantly, it is a safe car, because it has all-wheel drive, anti-lock breaks, and several air bags to protect the driver and passengers.

This is a fabulous car. It is sporty and fun with all the creature comforts needed in a small car. It is a blast to cruise down the highway in this pocket rocket!

( i wrote this quickly sorry)This is a really great car. for 74k miles the interior is mint. you must know that buying this car you are getting a sports car, not a grocery getter. it will be kinda difficult getting in and out of the drivers seat. and the gears are short, (get a rythem after driving a few miles and skip from 1 to 3)do not plan to carry adult passengers in the rear seats, thought it is possible with much discomfort 4 all. you may put a 9 -11 year old though. i was expecting the factory exhaust to be a little throater and the front seats to hold you in better. however over all the fit and finish is great. i would like to put in a mp3 player with a front USB port because i dont use those old cd's anymore! lol. but factory cd changer works good if you use cd's.

I've only had the car a few weeks so its hard to speak to reliability but everything else has been very nice- its growing fast on me. I love the info. cluster on the dashboard with song title and artist, outside temp, and the variable display (I keep it on instant MPG) The car has very stylish, "cool" feel to it and just feels well made. I'm impressed with the Quattro, too, it works great. Two small complaints: the lack of an arm-rest or cupholders (you can have one but not the other)and the door lock button was placed in an awkward position- the center of the car. Other than that, I'm very happy with the car.

The quality of the design, fit and finish is excellent. Apart from the rear window that was coming "unglued", no other problems noted thus (car had 38,000 miles, now has just over 40,000, owned a few months). The servicing and repair is expensive - getting a warranty is worth considering. Heard that timing belts can go long before the manufacturer stated replacement - it is a costly maintenance service, but no where hear the costs of fix if that timing belt breaks on you. So far, the most disappointing area of the car is performance and handling - power is not as good as I was expecting and the weight on the front end reduces the handling experience.

Generally the car is ok, but they do require a lot of cost towards repairs. I would probably suggest to the sellers they watch all the rest of the cars being sold on here before they put theirs for sale. 90 percent of them are usually "reserve not met" And I would suggest to the buyer keep plenty cash on standby for this car. You're going to need it!

Read your review about the TT and can pass on some info. related to the check engine light (MIL Lamp). We own a 2002 VW Passat and had a chronic problem with the check engine light. We had the sensor reset/replaced 7 times in the first 6-7 months we owned the car (bought it new). After multiple attempts by the dealer to "fix" the problem, VW sent a tech from MI to look at it and they determined that the secondary air solenoids were faulty. Both were replaced and (knock wood) our problem was solved. Since it's roughly the same engine design, I hope this helps your issue. Good Luck.

GREAT HANDLING ,VERY GOOD ACCELERATION, BAD ELECTRONICS I HAVE A ESP SENSOR THAT GOES OFF REGULARLY, GAS TANK SENSOR DOES NOT RELIABLY READ THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL LEFT IN THE TANK, WHEN LOCKING THE DOOR THE ALARM WILL GO OFF WHENEVER, AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF SOMETIMES UNLESS THEY ARE SWITCHED OFF. THE CAR HAS ONLY 15000 MILES.MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
