Jaguar XJS

I wrote two complaints about this transaction, provided photos and responses from the seller to E-Bay support showing clearly that the seller lied 1) about the mileage of the car and 2) about the interior condition of the car. The seller clearly took advantage of the E-Bay forum, knowing that the potential buyer pool may very well be out of the area to review prior to the purchase, and dishonestly represented the vehicle to promote a sale and a better selling price for that sale. My complaints resulted in nothing and I am dismayed that inspite of providing proof of my claims, the seller is still able to utilize E-Bay. I did go through square trade...what a joke. All that did was cost me another $100.00 and made the seller feel more empowered that they did not have to workanything out...In less than 48 hours, the Square Trade "mediator" threw in the towel. My main issue with this transaction was that the seller listed the mileage of the vehicle to be over 29,000 miles less than it actually is. I am preparing to write to a couple of government agencies that look into internet fraud and since E-Bay has taken no action against this seller I can only assume this is OK with you...I am surprised. Perhaps some good will come out of all of this that may protect future buyers. I have purchased 6 vehicles on E-Bay prior to this one and only had a problem with one, to which the seller worked things out with me. I think this shows that I am was looking for something for nothing from this seller...the interior of the car was also much, much worse than described or pictured. Also, my feedback is perfect...I have not had a problem such as this before. Now you send me a questionaire about this transaction, after the complaint letters Wrote? Whats up with that? I would have expected some sort of response directed at my complaint, not asking me what I thought of a transaction that I have strongly raised issues with in several letters to your support department. I had thought of just never using E-Bay again, but then I figured the seller wins again an my transactions are between the the other parties and myself...I will not buy another car on here again though. This will not affect you in the least, i realize that. But again, perhaps my complaints to some outside agencies may bring about change, if not from my individual letter then perhaps from a multitude of other complaints as well. I am thinking perhaps E-Bay has gotten too big to be able to hold its sellers accountable and perhaps too big to care. Anyway, I have wriiten to you enough on this transaction already, so I will just end by stating again that I am dissapointed by this transaction and very surprised by E-Bay's apparent approval of the sellers tactics.

This is not a typical 1990 Jag XJS. The car, 19 years old, had only 9,500 verified miles on it since new. It is in flawless show condition without a mar, scratch or dent. (It is a good idea to have such a purchase get an independent inspection, which I did.) Since it was the original rubber, I had all five tires replaced with factory equipment, Pirelli P600s. I can't say enough about the dealer, Andy Charless. He was honest, responsive and attentive to detail. I highly recommend him.

This is the third Jaguar XJS I have owned and the second one I have purchased thru e-bay motors. Purchasing an older Jaguar sight unseen is a huge risk but one I was willing to take because I have always had a great affection for the design and the handling of the XJS. They were the true Jaguars. It is a car that is seldom seen anymore because people know the repairs can definitely be costly and stear clear of them except for people like me. The repairs to bring this car up to effiency are now approaching $4000. Granted , because of the low purchase price, you know have a real show car for $10,000.
I bought this particular car because of the year it was made, condition and mileage. It was the one year (1992) that Jaguar made 92 improvements to this car.

This XJS V-12 coupe was represented as "pristine." Upon receipt of the car, it was unsafe to drive, leaked oil badly,radio was useless (no code), poor a/c. It was necessary to replace upper and lower ball joints to be safe to drive, radio needed complete rewiring w/new antenna. Rear engine & trasmission seals leak,as well as steering rack. I have spent upwards of $1500 to make car safe with more expense to come. Upon confronting seller with these issues, he arrogantly replied there are no issues and if I gave him a negative feedback I would be sorry. "Don't mess with me" was his attitude. What I have said can be fully documented. I invite you to contact me if you wish. In my time we settled issues person to person by phone, sometimes just a handshake where integrity and honesty was our code of business.

Among long time XJS owners, it is understood the Lucas electrical issues were eliminated in the late 80's. I have owned this car for 12 years and it has never failed me.
Wonderful car, just don't buy a cheap one, or pre 1990.

I was about to buy the vehicle.. but unfortunately i had to step back due to my job loss. Still the seller contacted me to buy and when i gave him my reason, he understood my problem. Thanks to him

Great ride..quality through and through..A real headturner !!! This is our first Jaguar, I bought this car at ebay auction as a birthday gift for my wife...she loves it !

This seller lied on every detail about this car. I have NEVER been ripped off as bad as I got ripped off on this sale from the seller northshoreauto175 . This car misses very badly, has fuel delivery problems, major leaks in the oil, transmission, and rear differential. Almost all Belts need replaced, steering, and suspension bushings bad, pans rusted, large rust on driver quarterpanel, oxidized motor parts and mechanic said car appeared to be submerged in saltwater at one time or another. Wood was bad inside, temp and oil gauges did not work, evidence of the speedometer being unplugged, black mold embedded in all the carpet and undermats. Dies at every stop, very bad paint fade and scratches on trunk, molding was rotton, or removed from every area of the car. No seatbelts working, Seatbelt molding was removed from the sides and will take thousands of dollars to make even roadworthy.
This transaction makes me sick at my stomach and is about the biggest case of fraud I have ever been "got" by. No title has been seen for this vehicle and a month has now passes. Seller claimed to be a dealer, but in reality is a wrecker service, and probably got the vehicle by it being abandoned and overheated, or damaged in storm or flood. I strongly recommend a person NEVER buying a vehicle from this seller. I love classic cars, and know not to expect to get somthing perfect, but when the seller uses terms and phrases like :
"Runs Great"
"This vehicle is in superb cosmetic condition. The exterior looks to be in mint condition."
"No door dings or scratches on this baby - it is immaculate. The paint on this vehicle makes it obvious that the owner garaged it."
"The vehicle engine runs very, very smooth"
"The electronic components on this vehicle have been checked and they are all in working order"
"This is a prime example of a pre-owned vehicle, with no known defects"
"This vehicle's interior is very clean"
---Not one of these statements is true about this car. I find it disturbing that people like this even get their hands on a classic car like a Jaguar, and this is the kind of sale that would just make a collector and restorer or reular buyer just sick.
