Chevrolet Tracker

When I went looking for a small SUV I had 3 main things it needed to be able to do. Be foul weather/off road capable. Be able to be towed behind my small RV when necessary, and get reasonably decent gas milage.

I was surprised when I went to sites like Consumer Reports, Edmunds, KBB and the like, at how badly they slammed the Tracker. Especially since the test drives that I went on didn't seem to show anything close to what they were saying. They called it underpowered, poorly built and crappy.

Power from the V6 is peppy and fairly quick. I drove the Rav 4, Kia Sportage and Suzuki SX4 and the V6 Tracker seemed the most lively of the bunch. Passenger room is about equal to the Rav 4 and Sportage, but the cargo space is significantly better in the Tracker. Gas milage was perhaps the one spot where the Tracker didn't do as well as I thought it would. 18/22 is ok, but not great. But that was about the same as the Rav 4 and Sportage.

But here's the kicker. None of the other tiny SUVs can be towed. Not one. Only the Tracker can be towed. If you want another towable SUV you have to go a half step up to the CRV/Liberty/Escape realm. But since they weigh about 600 lbs more than the Tracker, it wasn't really an option for my small RV.

All in all I find the Tracker to be a great little SUV, especially for the price. I bought the LT version which means leather and the side panels that help with door dings. No, it's not a Lexus, but it is a very capable car that can do an awful lot of things. 55,000 miles later and I'm completely happy.

Most do not understand what this auto is. It's a cheap way to get to point B from point A. We use these Trackers as business cars, good gas mileage with no or very little breakdowns. With 15 of them now being purchased by us and placing over 1.5 million miles on them I can say with resolve this is a great auto for quick runs, highway travel and overall use. All of ours are 4-wheel drive, most with the 2.0 four but three with the V-6 2.5, all in all we feel that the 4 is a bit better engine. On this one you would note in the listing the subject of rust. This is the item we watch for, check out "GM special coverage 06186. We have it at the dealership being repairs for free. As I look out into our parking lot at three of them sitting there, only one other small auto comes to mind for a safe and dependable ride for the money and that is the Cheverolet Prizm. Now just understand we use these auto's for high mile runners, our not mile reading is 212,000.

i purchase this car in 2002 i never had any problems,change a battery thats it,last month the powerwindow begin acting up good gasmileage,legroom tight for atall person,steering is great,in windyweather,gustwind do shake the car,great studentcar or wifecar,HEY KEEP UP THE MAINTANANCE AND RIDE RIDE RIDE!

I have been a Chevrolet owner for about twenty years now and have found these cars to be very reliable and dependable! So I decided to stick with what works for me! 1989-Chevy-Chevrolet-1995-Chevrolet-Blazer-2005-Chevrolet-Cavalier-2009-Chevrolet-Tracker! They all worked fine for me!

This is a very nice little SUV. It gets 30 mpg. The interior is like new. The only thing that shows weathering are the bumpers. For a vehicle from North Carolina it is in great shape, no rust, etc. Very happy with this Tracker. It handles well in the wind and being in Kansas that means a lot.

went to seller had a very pleasent sale with them the tracker was exactly what they said they had paid cash for it but cant seem to get it off my summary as being paid will definetly buy from these peaple again thank u

manual transmission and 4x4 excellent for trails and mud.there are alot of aftermarket parts for performance that are low cost. and this bad boy can hold its own with the jeeps and samuai in the mud pits and rock walls.

We are using it for a tow car for our camper and it works great. It is light enough that it offers nor additional weight especially since we us a surge break hitch system. Have had to do some things to it and the salt effect on the underside had to be treated to halt deterioration. It is a lot of fun down here in the Great State of Mississippi.
