Acura TL

I would like to start off with recommending this TL to anyone, however bring along another scrutinizing eye when you test drive it. Our TL aka "Mrs. T" shimmered beautifully when we first saw it, bedazzled we were and I must say too quickly committed to buying. Our test drive was short, but we were taken by it's performance, feel, interior and exterior design. The ergonomics are top notch and perfect. The illumination is definitely an eye-catcher. The seats comfort you whether short or tall. Well after 11,000 miles of off and on fun, the problems began to amount. Thank god the problems aren't powertrain related, yet (as I cross fingers). The fit and finish is not what you would expect from Acura. Our windows rattled after 1000 miles, dealer tried to fix. The headliner was by far the biggest headache. after another 1k miles it began to sag near the front of the sunroof. Took dealer, I'm not kidding 6 times to fix. Each visit was no 30 min. quick appt. but all day and then some. Then @ 6k miles dash began to rattle, dealer fixed with felt. Then @ 7-8k subwoofer/rear deck rattled, dealer fixed with more felt. Plastic caps for handles on roof fell off broken and revealed poor work from techs. The rear handles were misaligned poorly, another trip to the dealer. Then @ 10k miles trunk hinge covers needed replacement, coming apart. Then rear driver tire losing pressure, 2 dealers could not determine the problem. Then stereo suddenly had debris/dust in the display, doesn't impede on functionality, but appears very ugly, dealer fixed. Then now @ near 12k miles trunk latch broken, apparently an actuator has failed and we cannot open our trunk, unless we climb in the back and reach into the pass through and manually do it! Our many setbacks have been cosmetic, but one should not expect to get this many problems with an Acura who's price tag is not cheap! Oh I forgot, the radio display again is becoming dirty with debris/dust, dealer said it's a sealed unit? Well I better get out the notepad and jot down my list of things needed to be fixed again. Some of the panels and trim appear not to line up, but hasn't caused any problems just amazed on how inconsistent the build/craftsmanship of the car is. Again I recommend the car just take an extra long test drive and check everything to make sure it came off the Acura line with Acura panache. I sincerely think we got the short end, but that's okay we might trade for a TSX which is built in Japan, not USA like the TL.

This car is amazing. It is responsive, luxurious, and looks great. All of the options make doing things that used to be a hassle while driving (audio changing, phone calls, etc) a breeze.

Wow, this car is nice, comfortable, FAST, and the Type S motor makes driving more fun than...well, maybe not more fun. The only major qualm with this car is the black-boxed transmission. Totally unreliable and expensive to replace. If you're in the market for this model TL make sure the transmission has been replaced since 2007 or expect to shell out big bucks to do it yourself.

Not only is it gorgeous inside and out, but this car rides and drives like a dream. It comes standard with basically every amenity you could want in a car sold today, almost 5 years after it was originally released! Plus its reliability is without question. A+ Acura!

We purchased our Acura about a month ago, sight unseen, from half-way across the country. We were little nervous about it since we didn't get to see the car before we paid for it, but it all turned out well. We love the body style, interior and exterior. It is fully loaded with navigation system. We love all the extra bells and whistles. The only complaint would be the rear-view is very limited. Kind of hard to back up, especially for someone who is not very tall to see out. But, we would still buy it again knowing that. Wes was great to work with during the whole process. Apparently we overpaid by about $100 and did not know it, and less than a week later we received a check in the mail. A nice surprise! Strongly recommend Wes and Park Place.

I have a acura TL 3.2 its excellent lots of torque for passing and the interior is in fine shape, I would recommend this car to anyone.

The Acura TL does what it's supposed to, and does it well. The controls are clear, the seats are comfy, fit and finish is excellent, and the engine is zippy. Compared to my wife's 2002 BMW 530i, the TL holds its own but differs in several ways. Whereas the BMW's handling is neutral, the TL has a slightly nose-heavy, Honda-esque feel. The TL is faster and quieter than the BMW, and its seats are about the same. Choosing between the two is a matter of preference. If you value road feel and precision handling, then the BMW wins. But if you value comfort and quiet, then you'll find the Acura to be the better car. If you're in the market for a car like this, my recommendation is to test-drive the TL along with equivalent models from BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lexus and whoever else you want. Personally, I like the TL best, and along with Lexus it has the advantage of rock-solid reliability. The only areas of concern in 1999-2003 TLs are the transmission and the radio. Transmissions in V6 Acuras had a tendency to fail because of an inferior 2nd-3rd gear clutch. These cars were subject to a recall, so make sure the transmission in the car you're looking at was seen by an Acura dealership. Once the transmission is fixed, its reliability is excellent. The Bose radio has a design flaw in which older recordable CDs (CDRs) can get stuck in the transport because they're thicker than normal. New CDRs don't have that problem, so don't worry about this unless you want to play CDs that were burned 6-7 years ago.

Well here you are looking at a car that will last you super longg time. I have had an acura tl before it lasted me super long time. Even with high mileage this car runs GREAT. It dosent give me any problems nor does it break down.

Very nice Luxury sedan. Handling, braking, acceleration and music : All good and well-balanced. The looks and exterior are worthy of a midsize luxury car.
