What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

I bought this vehicle from a seller in Minnesota, went to pick it up and drove it back to Florida. I was expecting to have to make a few repairs before making such a long trip and also once I learned that this car was parked and not being used for nearly a year, I definitely thought that I was going have to spend a few bucks before driving it back to Miami. It was a pleasant surprise when the engine started and the car drove perfectly. I had to put in a new battery, spent $45.00 on repairing a radiator tank, and nothing else. I made it to Florida without a hassle and the car drives and feels like new. Since I arrived I have replaced the plugs, wires, oil and air filter. This SUV is amazing, reliable and very comfortable with lots of power to spare.

Purchased USED (NOT ABUSED)103K mi
I'm getting 15-20mpg
Drove over 600 miles home after purchasing the SUV which gives you time to evaluate it before you have become completely used to it. This SUV drives like a car (I have a Dodge 1500 and an Excursion -these are definitely trucks) but has better cargo area and the view is still taller and better then cars. Electronics appear to be the week point but only to annoy - does not seem that stuff will break. The convenience package is usabel and usefull. Air ride seems to be problematic. Overall feels / looks like it was built by folks that care - bet it will last as long as any car company product.

I got the Eddie Bauer Edition with the CD and Cassett player, The biggest gotcha with this CD/Cassett option is that it has neither the clock display or the radio station display. Instead in only shows interior temp when the heat/air is on. So it's difficult to find your favorite stations. The option I like the most is the miles per gallon display. It show MPG for the trip and the current MPG. The electric adjustable seats are nice but I'd be happy with manual seats since I don't change the seat position much. Just another gadget to break in the future.

I love my Explorer Eddie Bauer. V8 has more than enough power, great acceleration when you put your foot on the gas. Comfortable luxurious leather interior. Power Everything, moon roof. Good Stereo. Love the parking sensors. All controls within easy reach. Powerful a/c typical of Ford. Easy to drive and park. good visibility. 59K miles and no issues. Maintenance and tires and brakes. No performance or service issues. Much better than the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee it replaced. Jeep was very expensive to maintain. Would buy another one again. Only drawback, the AWD/4WD V8 is thirsty. Avg 16-17 mpg on the freeway. Go 20 mpg on vacation this summer to Colorado.

1996 Ford Explorer: Seriously "Explore"ing...

We had previously owned 2 other Explorers and were on the hunt for another since we needed a vehicle more user friendly for my wife's 80 year old mother. Climbing into our F350 or Bronco is a bit of a challenge for her.

In my opinion, the earlier generation Explorers are the best. The ride and functionality - not to mention the superior longer-lasting push rod engines - and the ease of servicing make them very desirable.

I had been searching, watching, and bidding for several weeks. This particular Explorer is well suited to our needs. We like the features of the Limited model, including the moonroof and the venerable 5.0 V8 engine. Even though we knew of its 200,000+ mile odometer reading, it provided a good platform to start with. And the purchase price allowed for spending on the needed fixes and still be within budget. The seller was very easy to work with, allowing us a week to make arrangements to meet to complete the transaction. And she provided a significant amount of service records.

The transission failed righ after purchase, probable just warn out, it was a high mileage vehicle.
Ford started puting an alarm system in the Explorers in 1995, which my personal opinion is a waste of money, when this system starts failing it gets expensive to repair. If the vehicle did not have this it would be one less thing to go wrong.
