2003 Ford Expedition: Eddie Bauer is living the life.

10/31/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
I bought this vehicle used in 2005. It was an upgrade over my 1997 Explorer Eddie Bauer. The previous owner added a few after market upgrades: DVD player, 3 TVs, remote starter.

The vehicle overall has been completly reliable, knock on wood, no major repair issues at all. There was cosmetic issues with the area around the Ford symbol on the back door under the window. Some how water leaks into the area and causes rust. Thankfully it was covered under the warranty and replaced at Fords cost.
The only other issue is the lack of coverage provided by the navigation system. If you are looking at this vehicle with the GPS you will need a GPS upgrade.
The overall performance of the vehicle is great, the ride is smooth, and the vehicle manuevers very well for its size. At about 14mpg its not winning any environmental awards but it get 400 miles to a full tank.
The Eddie Bauer is very nicely designed with the two color body (green on top, tan on the bottom) The factory rims are nice and easy to clean.

Overall I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a large SUV, its cargo capacity and passenger room are great.

Highly recommend!

2007 Ford Expedition: Ford Explorer EL 4x4 -Excellent family vehicle!

12/07/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
Our family was growing so we needed a bigger vehicle. Buying a mini van was not an option! We had drove a Ford Explorer XLT and wanted to stay with Ford so the Expedition was a natural choice for us. We choose the EL model for the extra room in the back for our 2 dogs and the 2nd row captain's chairs. It is a luxury vehicle without the luxury price! It is very comfortable for the whole family and we love all of the safety features. It is easy to drive and with the 4x4 handles the snowy winters of Minnesota very well. We definitely recommend the Ford Expedition EL!

2000 Ford Expedition: Very Happy with my purchase.

I was very skeptical purchasing a car off ebay. The expedition I purchased turned out to be in very good condition given the miles it has on it. I took it to my mechanic and after a tune up, oil change and brakes we were good to go. I am very happy with my purchase and the seller advertised the car well.

2001 Ford Expedition: =)=)=)

Which one do you think Goldilocks would pick? With the new Escape on the breakfast table for 2001, it seems Ford has enough different-sized SUVs to satisfy everyone. And for those people who want something bigger than an Explorer, but smaller than an Excursion, the Expedition should be just right.

After allowing GM to dominate the full-size SUV arena for years, in 1997 Ford introduced the Expedition, which had its sights squarely aimed at the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon. Able to seat nine people with its optional third-row bench seat, Expedition is also easier to park and maneuver than the larger Chevy Suburban (or Excursion, for that matter). The vehicle has good payload and towing capacity: 2,000 pounds and 8,000 pounds, respectively.

New standard features on the XLT include privacy glass, heated mirrors and a class IV trailer tow package. The Eddie Bauer edition gets a HomeLink navigation system as well as the trailer tow package. Power-adjustable pedals are standard on all trim levels and allow drivers of smaller stature to move the pedals toward their feet rather than moving the seat uncomfortably close to the steering wheel. Interior coddling can be increased on the Eddie Bauer edition with the optional VHS rear-seat entertainment system.

On the road the Expedition is well mannered. It's obviously not a car, but compared to the old Ford Bronco, the Expedition rides like a limousine. Expedition buyers can order the vehicle with two single third-row seats instead of the standard 60/40-split bench seat for 2001. Like the second-row bench seating, the two individual seats can be stowed if extra cargo-carrying capacity is required.

Ford has put a lot of time and money into making this truck a sales leader in their already dominant light-truck lineup. The Expedition comes standard with dual airbags, antilock brakes, while side airbags are optional. Our biggest gripe stems from the powertrain. While Ford has boosted output for both the 4.6- and 5.4-liter engines, they still can seem less powerful when compared to the Vortec powerplants found in GM's full-size trucks. One option that we think everyone should investigate is the lighted running boards. The Expedition towers above the ground, and entering and exiting this truck will take its toll on most passengers after a few days

The Ford Expedition is a nice balance between comfort and function, and its ability to seat nine people makes it popular with large families and those who have to haul stuff around. Nevertheless, we can't overlook the surprisingly roomy Dodge Durango and the outstanding Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon when discussing big trucks. In the last few years, the mid- and full-size sport-ute market has gotten very competitive and choices are much more difficult to make.

Pretty much like a reliable F-150, but got a huge trunk.
Powerful, very fuel efficient consider the size of the truck.
Transmission is smooth like silk, seats are comfortable, way much better than sitting in a minivan.
Another benefit is that very few people will cut into your lane by accident! This truck is very hard to hide in any car's blind spot.

Best truck I have ever owned. It is super comfortable and perfect for long trips. The gas mileage isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Love it.

Rust might be an issue with this vehicle. If you are interested in one I suggest you look at it from all sides. Find that this vehicle line has issues with radio antenna. Again, this as I am told is a rusting issue. If you have to replace the front break rotors I recommend replacing the entire hub. Unless you find the old rotor loose you will find it very hard to remove. Again, rusting issues with this issue.
I have found mine to have a some minor issues with door locks. I must say they were easy fixes with information on these repairs ares readily available on-line.
Also, have issue with Air Conditioning. This has yet to be diagnosed, but I would be wrong not to mention it.
All in all how ever with the few repairs I have made to this vehicle have made it a nice running vehicle. If you can deal with the fuel economy you will find this nice vehicle.

we did not go through with this transaction ,we feel the dealer was very dishonest in his description of the vehicle as it was rotted out on the rocker panels and on the frame.

68,000 plus miles, some towing - boat & trailer. lots of utility and has been a reliable vehicle. bright white, xlt trim level. got a large breed dog and put him in the back on a futon for frequent 500 mile plus trips. three (or four) people, luggage and the dog travel back & forth from the east coast to the mid west in relative comfort. just got back and hit a heavy snow storm in the western PA mountains. never had to engage 4WD, it pushed on through. big enough to keep tailgaters in their place - backed off. i enjoy performing preventative maintenance and keep after fluid & filter changed, etc. only issues: front sway bar end links and a front end alignment. original brakes, one set replacement tires. 18 mpg highway - fully loaded. this Ford has treated my family right.

Ebay serves as an excellent venue to purchase a vehicle. The Expedition is very versatile. The only downside is the gas mileage... but that goes with the territory of owning an SUV.
