What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

This was my first car and I love it. However I am currently selling in because I bought a newer car with less miles. The cougar was my first love, the 4.6l engine provided enough power to smoke the tires. I loved driving it in the wet weather. As far as the Comfort of the vehicle goes, this is unmistakably the most comfortable car i have ever driven. I once feel asleep in the Drivers seat for 7 hours and woke up nice and refreshed. The most surprising thing about the car is the craftsmanship this car is so solid when I put 2 12inch subs in the back the hardly made any vibration noise from the subs.

I like the ride, and the handling. Over all good performance. Lots of aftermarket add on parts that will work on this car from the Mustang. Better to insure then a Mustang.

It is a classic muscle car of the late sixties. It has style and performance chrome and body lines that the cars of today do not have.

1997 Mercury Cougar: Why I got my Cougar

It was the last of the rear wheel drive independantly sprung sport coupes from Ford. I've always liked the styling of the car and the 4.6 liter V8 moves it nicely down the road. It is a fun daily driver for me. Overall I'm very pleased with the vehicle

The car was in the shape as described by the seller besides a couple of surprises that really would not affected my purchase. I am pleased with the purchase and hope to resore this car to a show finish.

1997 Mercury Cougar: Dishonest Seller,Transmission bad,torque bad,Belts bad

This vechile was sold to us by a dishonest seller, transmission bad, torque bad, belts dryrotted, never had fluid levels changed, which caused the current situation.Crome on side was bent out where it can easily cut someone.Door on driver side hard to open, passenger side cannot open only threw the driver side. This car has a whole lot of problems.Seller sold to us and in listing said excellent inside and out.And then seller lied said we were happy with the car, yeah right. The undercarriage was dragging. We thought this seller was a dealer trying to get passed a bad car on ebay.Ebay motors refunded our money on the car. This car is ready for the junk yard. There is nothing good about this car.I would say buyer beware.

1992 Mercury Cougar: Last of a now dead breed.

Had a 1991 Mercury Cougar in High School and this was basically a nostalgia purchase. I'm not going to drive it regularly. I'm just going to fix it up. That said, anyone considering this generation of Cougar or Thunderbird would be well advised to get the 5.0 V8. It's a very solid engine and frankly more reliable than the 4.6 that replaced it in 1994. (I have a 2008 Mustang GT as my daily driver. The 4.6 in it is flawless but early 4.6s had some issues.) The 3.8 V6 isn't bad it's just anemic and this is a really heavy car. Get an XR7 if possible. They came with a lot more standard equiment. Most notably antilock brakes. These cars will last just about forever if properly maintained. I bought mine in San Diego and drove it to Charleston without any issues. Thank God the A/C worked. The only issue with mine is that the fog lights don't work. Haven't diagnosed it yet, but I think both bulbs are burned out. Anyway, the rear drive midsize non-luxury branded coupe is a dead breed now and I think the 90's cougars and t-birds are among the best examples especially when equipped with the V8. Cougars in particular had some obscure equipment available including: air conditioned glove box (standard on XR7), auto dimming mirror (common now, rare 20 years ago), auto dimming high beams, auto ride control (XR7 only) and JBL stereo with cassette and CD (nothing special by modern standards, but world class at the time). Be careful if you buy one with a sunroof as the weather stripping frequently gave out after about 10 years. Also common rust spots include the lower part of the door skins and the rocker panels. The weather stripping around the back window tended to shrink and expose the edge of the glass although weirdly none I've ever seen with this issue actually leaked. The power antennas tended to crap out around 90k and are INCREDIBLY difficult to get to to repair. The transmissions were spotty if not looked after carefully (especially 94's and 95's. To check it, floor it from a stop and let off the gas suddenly around 35. If the entire car jerks hard shifting into second, you got a bad one.) Don't buy one with cracked rear side windows. This peice of glass can run over $1000 if you have a model with the factory copper tint. Those are the major things to look for but I bought mine with 180k on the clock and drove it across the country so as you can see I'm confident in them.

If your looking for lots of bang for your hard-earned bucks, this little car delivers. I've owned an I4 for over a year now, driving 30 miles one way to work every day, and, I love it: it's quick, sporty, great on gas, fun to drive and to look at. I wanted a reliable, fuel-efficient car for driving year round, and the 2.0 liter Cougar mated to a slick 5-speed manual transmission fits the bill nicely; with the added bonus of eye-catching, head-turning great looks. It handles like it owns the road, is rock-solid in high-speed maneuvering (useful for dodging deer out here in the Great American Desert), provides accurate feedback from the tarmac to the driver, and loves to go fast. All this for less than $4k and at nearly 40 mpg! Who could reasonably ask for more?

Bottom line, my 19 year old son wants one, too!
