What it's Worth - Price Range Information
Just Sold on eBay Motors
The Just Sold on eBay Motors price range represents the lowest and highest completed sale price for this vehicle on eBay Motors within the last 90 days.
Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value Range
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The range represents asking prices that typically occur for the vehicle model throughout the United States, not all vehicles sell for the exact same price, which is why the company also offers a value range. By showing both the low and high ends of the range the company can better reflect whether a given vehicle's asking price varies widely or hardly at all. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. This range includes pricing for used vehicles, not new or late model vehicles.

My son has a 1996 Chevrolet Corsica that the body is bad, but the engine and transmission is good. I decided to buy this Corsica because the body look like it was in good shape and I can move the engine and transmission from my son's car to this car and maybe get him thought college with a car that runs and looks good.

1993 Chevrolet Corsica: great car

My Corsica was 4cyl 5 spd. Parts are plentiful and cheap. Best MPG was 36.5 and I got this on two trips. Typical highway MPG was 32-33MPG. Normal mixed drive was around 26MPG+. I did brakes a few times, a water pump, alternator, and the only major repair was a head gasket at around 100k miles. Headgasket coolant leak is common on these so if buying used check this out - usually it will be external leak that is visible. Mine seeped near bolt on LF corner and I have seen others with spongy area in same spot. As with any alum head motor I would be concerned about someone running it low on coolant and damaging head. I would hate to guess how many of these and similar cars sit on used lots with this problem temporarily masked with stop leak in the coolant so check this out. I owned mine since it was near new. The headgasket job and head rebuild was not difficult or expensive and I think it is doable by avg do-it-yourselfer. My Corsica had 190k miles when I gave it to a neighbor for their 16 yr old boy to have as a first car. I decided to get rid of it because all at once it started using 1qt oil every 1000 miles - plus I was ready for something new anyway. Engine compression and power was still great - I think oil rings must have been shot. Car did not smoke much and was hardly noticeable. What I did notice was that there was a bunch of vacuum suction on the dipstick tube ...someone smarter than me probably knows why... a couple of mechanics said it was just plain worn out. At that point the struts were shot and front end was getting loose. However, he drove it until 240k when finally it was taken off the road due when someone ran a stop sign and wrecked it. This car was very reliable, power was ok, and I considered it an all-around great value. Paint held up well and the car did not rust except it started getting some pinholes just starting inside door jambs at the corners - oh, I also frequently had the door drain holes plug but not a big deal as long as one pays attention to things. These cars sometimes get a bad rap in reviews but my experience has been very good. When I bought it this car was not much over 1 yr old and had 22k miles - I did get a great deal at $6k (repo) but even if I had paid closer to retail and added in my maintenance and repair costs I am not sure I would be better off owning a better-rated Honda or Toyota for the same costs.

I have the v6 and it has been very dependable. It started making a rattling sound around 80K and I heard others making the same noise. It turned out to be the tensnor arm. $30 and one bolt and she was good as new. Around 100k I had to replace the egr valve. don't remember the cost but wasn't much. Overall the car is zippy and handles well. The interior did not hold up well. The cloth on the seats are thin and wore out quikly. The door molding came loose and can't be reatached so water gets in. At about 130K I hit a deer hard. It crumpled the front end and fell on the hood. I suffered no injuries and the deer ran away seemingly unharmed. I drove home. The parts to fix the front end were less than $1000. This summer I'll fix the deer slyer a fresh coat of paint and i'll be ready for another 130K. Don't see many of these listed because the owners love them.

I currently own this vehicle runs great and quite reliable, but could stand some improvement. I have a chevy corsica 4 door hatch back. The sill around the hatch window is dry rotted and sometimes leaks water. looking for a window louver for the fit.

I still own this car and have experienced only some minor maintainence costs. The only thing I have disliked about it is a minor flaw in design - the front seatbelts turn when removed, and often have to be flipped by hand or else they shut in the door. Easy to get in the habit of doing, but riders often don't notice so you have to unlock so they can correct it.

I have met past Corsica owners who have expressed their disappointment in the fact that they traded in theirs on a car that hasn't pleased them as much as their old Corsica.

1996 Chevrolet Corsica: 96 Chevy Corsica - Sports Car in Disguise?

I bought this for my Son. It shares the same chassis as the Chevy Beretta, so almost all of the performance parts for the Beretta works on the Corsica without the Insurance premium. Insurance for this car is minimal compared to the Beretta. The essential difference in these cars is the Corsica is a 4-door and the Beretta is a 2-door. I purchased the car for $1537.00 with 109K miles on the odometer and a brand new paint job (Metallic Blue). It has 2.2l 4-cyl cylinder and a 3-speed automatic. So far it has gotten 32mpg almost every tank except for two, once it got 31mpg and another time it got 30mpg. It could use more power but that will have to wait for a while. We started teenager friendly improvements by putting Chrome Alloy wheels (16")on it from a 2003 Cavalier LS ($300 included tires). Then we put on a spoiler from Beretta ($75 + paint). Also, I was able to get a Strut Tower Brace from a Beretta for $15, it made a huge difference in the steering feel and precision. We are getting ready to order a Beretta Gauge cluster (includes Tachometer and full gauges instead of lights). Then we will order the White Face glo gauge set from Speedhut. All of the parts so far have come from the local wrecking yards. This is a great beginners car, so much can be done to it inexpensively to make it look and perform great. The next area of improvement will be the suspension, Eibach springs, KYB struts and shocks, rear sway bar. The Beretta GTZ was the best handling front wheel drive cars made in it's day, it even out-handled Chevy's own Camaro. The Corsica has the same potential you just have to know how to find it.
