1967 Pontiac Firebird: Restore a firebird not as many left as camaros

05/09/07(updated 08/15/09)
• Overall Satisfaction:
A firebird and a camaro is basically the same car. The reason I chose a firebird is because there wasn't as many made. When you go to a car show you will always see a first generation camaro. (Usually several) You may see a first generation firebird, but not as many. Seeing a 1967 firebird is scarce.
If buying a firebird or camaro to restore Be sure to know the commonly overlooked places for rust.
I have looked at nearly 100 cars priced under $5000.00. All were rusted out around the roof where the glass seals. The car I bought looked good until I removed the glass.I will need to replace the roof skin. The chrome strips and sealer hides this area. My advice If you can't see it assume you will need to repair it.
Also look at the bottom of the doors close to the front. This is a common rust spot that is overlooked.
Check the firewall around the wiper motor. Water get inside and lays. Mice also build nest here which holds the moisture in.
These areas can be fixed by a good body man without to much trouble. Just make sure you know what you are getting into.
If the rear frame rails and the rocker panels are rusted out avoid the car. These are very difficult to replace and keep the car strait. Small holes can be repaired. Large holes stay away.
Remember this when buying any car to restore. Small bubbles often turn into large holes. A little bondo and paint (primer) can hide big problems. If I smell fresh paint I look for problems.
Good luck.

2002 Pontiac Firebird: eBay Stink HARD !

01/06/09
• Overall Satisfaction:
eBay seller refused to sell the car after shill bidding his own NO RESERVE auction. After contacting the dealer to purchase the car(10 minutes after auction end) the dealer informed me that the car had already been sold. Over the next 6 weeks, dealer was contacted again and again in person, over the phone and by email. Each and every time the dealer said the car was still for sale. Multiple complaints to eBay accomplished nothing as eBay kept asking for more and more ridiculous proof. After all emails, phone calls, website ads, auto traders ads, etc. were proved to eBAy, eBay said they did not have enough information to take any action against the fraudulent seller. They had mulitiple emails saying the car was still for sale. They could just make a simple phone call and verify it. In other words, eBay was just blowing smoke up my rear end and had no intention of taking action against the seller. eBay does NOT care about protecting buyers one tiny bit, just their dwindling revenue stream.

I would advise against buying a car on eBay. eBay does not provide any protection to buyers and the eBay vehicle insurance program is a joke. I had $7800 stolen from me by a dealer up in Philladelphia who refused to hand the car over to my trucking companies. Almost 1 year now and no help from eBay or eBay's insurance program.

AVOID BUYING CARS ON EBAY, YOU WILL BE SORRY !

1999 Pontiac Firebird: I will never trust this seller (Dealer) on eBay ever again

05/07/13
• Overall Satisfaction:
• Performance:

• Quality and Craftsmanship:
Advertisement about this vehicle from the seller was great...There was no mention of any problems and the ad stated that the A/C gets cold. However, when I received the vehicle from a transport company, I was told by the driver that the passenger window does not work. Not only that, the exhaust was load and was told it needed a complete exhaust system including a Catalytic Converter, needs a new passenger window motor, gas gauge does not indicate accuracy, transmission makes slight downshift noise, antenna does not work up or down, the TCS (Traction Control Sensor) light on dash stays on, hand brake does not work, A/C Compressor does not engage when A/C is turned on, blows warm air, front tires indicate inner wear, rack-n-pinion is slightly damaged which causes stiff steering and I had to replace all the exterior safety bulbs including license plate lights. To my amazement when I was having the exhaust system replaced, there was noticeable undercarriage signs that this vehicle was flood damaged with mud & water at least a foot or more for a considerable time period. There was oil in the cooling system and the oil stick was black. There was many other problems that was noticed when I had it professional detailed, but it is too numerous to mention. I made a bad investment, but I trusted the words of the seller that was also a dealer.

1993 Pontiac Firebird: 1993 Pontiac Firebird Formula

06/29/12

• Quality and Craftsmanship:
I had the most wonderful and friendly business deal with the seller. Even though this Pontiac Firebird Formula is a 1993 year model, it is in near perfect shape and condition. It really looks like new! The seller did the condition of the car. And he had the most excellant pictures, both of the car, and the background. It really got me, ha! I had been looking for this exact car, and day-dreaming about one, for several years. I wanted a 1993, Pontiac Firebird Formula, and red, with the Corvette LT1 engine, with an automatic, and charcoal cloth inside. Besides, it had really low mileage for its age, was the best price, and was the closest to me, as well. Therefore, for the above given reasons, I think that I got a really great deal, with this eBay auction. And my special car to enjoy for as long as I can. In other words, I finally got my 'dream car' and I am retired and 67 years old. Thank your, Greg Pence, from Winchester, KY.

1996 Pontiac Firebird: SUPER FAST! AWSOME! SPORTY!RELIABLE!

THE FIREBIRD IS VERY SPORTY, AND RELIABLE! THE ONLY DOWNFALL I HAVE IS I AM USE TO DRIVING A EXCURSION SO NOW GETTING INTO THE FIREBIRD SO FAR TO THE GROUND IS A BIG TASK FOR ME!
AND THEIR IS NO REAL GOOD PLACE TO HAVE A COFFEE IN THE FIREBIRD WITHOUT IT TIPPING AND MAKING A MESS.
OVERALL ITS NICE TO BEABLE TO TAKE THE TOPS OFF WHEN ITS HOT OUT, AND IT DRIVES VERY SMOOTH AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO THE YOUNGER CLASS PEOPLE THAT CAN GET IN AND OUT OF IT SO LOW TO THE GROUND!
