The Lincoln LS Sedan was largely unchanged from it's first rendition throughout it's vehicle lifespan. The V8 version gets surprisingly good gas milage on the highway (24 - 26 MPG) and is very responsive and fast. This car was aimed at the BMW 5 series when it came out and did very well in head to head ratings. It's big inside for 4 full size adults, has a large trunk area that hold plenty of luggage. It provides a sporty suspension and drivetrain package, the cars hold up well to elements, and it a classic no nonsense sports sedan.
The plus side is that it doesn't bring big dollars on the resale market for buyers. You can get a full leather / wood interior, V8 Sports Sedan that carries 4 adults well, Nice sound system, climate controlled cabin, heated seats, and everything luxury that you need for a very inexpensive price. As long as you want something fun / nice to drive, it's a great bargain compared to other similarly equipped cars for buyers.
On the flip side, if you're looking for a car that held it value well and you paid full price at the start, you will be disappointed at the resale value of the car now. They don't sell for as much as they should for the car that it is.
There are 2 different types (Luxury Package and Sport Package). The easiest way to tell them apart is the Chrome Accents in the bumpers. The Luxury package HAS Chrome accent strips on the bumpers front and rear and means that the suspension / transmission is a little more oriented towards the relaxed / soft side. On the SPORT version, the bumpers have no Chrome accents, the suspension is a little stiffer (rougher ride but better handling in racy situations), and the automatic transmission has the ability to be shifted up / down like a manual tranny for high performance driving.
Either type of LS had an "Advance Trac" traction control option which was a really great system for foul weather driving. The Advance Trac system monitors all 4 wheels independently against each other to stop slides, spins, and lost traction as it happens by making the adjustment to brakes / power to correct the slide / loss of traction. For a rear wheel drive car, it goes like a tank in the snow with Advance Trac. Without it, the standard traction control system merely cuts power to rear wheels when they spin. As a rear wheel drive car with the standard traction control and ample power........ the car could be a handful in the snow. Something to consider if your climate is in the snow zone. If you never drive in snow, Advance Trac option isn't important.
As a buyer of this model in the used market. I love the performance and luxury the car gave me for such an affordable price. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if I was looking for another car.
