1960 Ford Thunderbird

I was 10 when my Dad had a New one. I was a J code with a Sunroof. It was the Optional sunroof he liked as the 1958 Convertible was already rotting out after 1 winter he Hated that Car was told the '60 with the bigger engine & sunroof would not rust as bad. They gave Him a good price & he was happy at first. That car was a pig it got 7 miles MPG. He was forced to keep it, but when I started to drive he sold it to Me for $1.00. I got tired of it fast. Well 3 years ago the Woman who I gave the Car to in 1975 passed away & her son asked if I wanted to buy it from Him. I told him I gave it to your Mom & YOU want me to BUY it back. I guess he had restored it so I gave him what he had in it. I still Hate it. I have Never had or seen a Car that rots & rusts as bad as this Model Car. I still like Thunderbirds but if you looking to buy one get a 1961 thru 1963. With a 352 or 390. NEVER get a 430 unless you own a Gas Station.

It's an uneasy feeling to buy a car sight unseen, trusting the folks who posted the ad. Hoping the description is accurate, and the photos of the car, which look great, look as nice when you see the car for the first time. In my case it was exactly as listed! I know an $8,000 car will not be a show quality car, but I am happy with it.

I am really a Thunderbird person, I have owned 25 or more examples from 1955 to 1972 models and I enjoy working on them as a hobby. The rough part is I work in the repair business and at the end of the day i am really tired of people and cars. I drove a 1959 T-bird thru high school and really loved the car, dated in the same car and drove it until it was really worn out. I enjoy working on the convertible cars of the 50's and 60's since they have so much personality and each one has its own set of problems. I really am looking forward to winding down and working on the fun cars and keeping them restored so the next generations can see and enjoy them. Thunderbirds are considered unique in all the world and I do my very best to keep their unique items working and seeing folks drool and enjoy cars from their younder days. We use them for parades, outings, football games and other intresting outings to remind the baby boomers of a time long ago now. The smiles and comments are always rewarding and appreciated.
