1969 Ford Mustang: dont get caught

07/20/09
• Overall Satisfaction:
The 69 mustang looks much more agressive than the 70 or the earlier models. Too much bling on the rear panel in 70 and the rocker panel mouldings on the 70 mach1 . I wanted a car to build the way I wanted one , but didnt want to bastardise a Mach1 so decided a 6cyl or f code was the way to go . Wanted a manual , so was pleased when I saw this was an original manual car 6cyl ( they dont seem to have had the hard life many of the V8's did ). Although it is now a V8 and auto the pedal was still in it . She was a real base model car with drums all round and no power steer . It lookeed pretty honest and the sellers spiel indicated it was a one family car , and kind of looked that way . The auction said it had a little rust in the usual places and the photos supported this . When questioned about the underside , i was told it had a tiny patch of rust in the passengers floor around one of the drains .The rest of the car was solid , so i put my best price in and won it by $50 . Pretty close ! I arranged the funds transfer from New Zealand and for it to be picked up and transported to the shippers in California . When it arrived i asked the shipper to check it out and he advised it was rotten in both front floors and the rear were getting soft as well , so full floor pans Reqd . He mentioned the passengers door was sticking so went to the trunk and it had had a bang in the right rear and very obvious which had compressed the chassis slightly. ( sellers pics of the trunk just missed showing the damage as chance would have it ). It would need a pull on a chassis plant and a new rear tail lamp panel and lower panel as they had been poorly repaired . ( no wonder the seller was so keen to on sell it quickly ) . I rung him and expressed my concern , but he pleaded ignorance of any of it . I emailed him with what I thought was a fair solution . If he repaid $650 of the $7150 I paid , this would pay for the panels I needed to repair plus shipping to New Zealand . Now his email wouldnt work and no reply to susequent phone calls . I now have no choice but to leave negative feedback . The second time I have been burned by an Ebayer . Many sellers seem to think that their obligation is to say as little as possible about the car and only provide details if asked and then as vague or understated as possible . Hopefully my feedback will make others wary which will ultimately cost him more than it would have done to treat me fairly and receive positive feedback. Any way , once we get it here it will go on the chassis plant , have new floors fitted , power disc brakes and power steer added , some other rust work done , converted to a 4 speed toploader and a full interior kit installed . This hopefully will be a project my 16 year old son and I can undertake together .,Yes all these parts I needed were sourced off ebay along with some cool old Ansen sprints and a new set of BFG rubber . Should be a wicked old beast when finished .

1969 Ford Mustang: 1969 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE

07/04/09
• Overall Satisfaction:
I recently purchased a mustang on ebay motors, the car looked great in the pictures and the seller stated the car did not need much to be road worthy and that it would need floors. when i received the car it was not as described needed major rust repair underneath, floors, torque boxes, front and rear frame rails, outer and inner rockers, ect. there was also other repairs needed not disclosed by the seller. I contacted the seller and would not take car back. Ebay said i was protected but when i contacted the protection plan they said no, more false promises from ebay!!! Then i was contacted by net nuetrals because of the negative feedback i left and they removed it because the seller paid them $25 to review and went in his favor another scam by ebay!!This whole experience was a nightmare so buyer beware if you buy a car and it is rust bucket you are stuck with it ebay will do nothing!!!!

1969 Ford Mustang: Mustang-The car to be

01/03/09
• Overall Satisfaction:
There are things i love about Ford and things i don't. Well only two things, one there boring apparence and there automatic transmissions. I prefer manuals but the automatic to me have a mind of there own. They shift when and how they want with no direct input from the driver. With that said I do like some of Ford products There trucks, mid size cars and the Mustang. You, at least today, can put a Ford right up with the Japanese cars out there and they keep up with the computation. Yes Chevy is gaining but they still have a long way to go and a history to cover to bring back the American consumer to the show room. Ford Mustang has and hopefully will always be the car to be.

I love the car! There is only one thing I have trouble with is getting behind the steering wheel. I wish that model came with a tilt steering wheel-but it don't. The car is beutiful and really fast! I plan to show it as soon as I get it checked over good by my mechanic.

1969 Ford Mustang: Mustang

• Overall Satisfaction:
Will be a fun car to rebuild. Great father / son road trip to pick it up. Very accurate description on E bay listing. I have had alot of old mustang restoration experience in the past, and feel this old mustang will be a good challenge.

1969 Ford Mustang: Hey, she's old and grumpy, still classy though.

10/30/08
• Overall Satisfaction:
Good value for the money. A 1969 Mustang needs lots of TLC. There's nothing money and time can't fix. Now, my husband will always have something to ask for his birthday and Christmas. We are overhauling the suspension and bearings. For his birthday, I'm sure he will want new seals around the doors.

The salesman gave me false details about the car and I'm stuck with it.
What he said on the listing was 1/2 truths and what he said on the phone was 100% lies

1969 Ford Mustang: 1969 Mustang Convertible

05/22/08(updated 07/10/08)
• Overall Satisfaction:
I bought a 1969 Mustang Convertible SIGHT unseen. The seller took lousy pictures and claimed everything worked. Well... It took me awhile to get the car right! The brakes were shot and one wheel cylinder was leaking on the drum. I almost totalled the car on the way home (200 miles!). Also, 2 of the windows did NOT work! But, the car had been intended for a show car and is in remarkable condition for 40 years old. The engine is perfect. I found a receipt in the trunk (the seller had nothing, of course). The engine had been rebuilt just 500 miles earlier. It had many new body panels, new paint, new top, new interior, new carpet, new trunk liner, new gas tank and sending unit and new wheels. So, I got it for GOLD BOOK used FAIR value. It is Good to Excellent with only a few spots of rust on the wheel wells. It is a 200 cubic inch 6 cylinder 3 speed. It definitely turns heads and runs very well. I used to have a 1969 Camaro and this thing is much smoother and easier to drive. So, I rolled the dice and got a fairly good car. I'm always getting the thumbs up and it probably won't depreciate too much. Everything works now. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to gamble on these NO RESERVE cars but, if possible, make a personal inspection before you place any bids!
