1964 Ford Galaxie: Just a little disappointed.

04/05/07
• Overall Satisfaction:
I've been looking for a 64 Ford Galaxie 500, for about 8 years now. And I thought I had finally found one that was in my price range and in fairly good condition for the money, That is according to the seller, well the car was not as clean and pretty as Chris described in his E-bay AD. He also stated that it starts right-up everytime, well that was not the case with this car. When the "Auto transporter" delivered the car to me the battery was dead and the car would not start. The driver that delivered the car stated that he had been trying to charge the battery to get the vehicle ready for me when I picked it up. We finally got the car started but it would not stay on. When I left the parking lot it was OK, as soon as I got to the first light to stop the car Died on me and I couldn't get it started again. I had to have it towed to my house. there are some serious electrical problems with the car, the alternator does not even work, meaning that it does not even charge the battery. And chris also stated that there was no RUST on the car. Well beleive me there is plenty of RUST on this car. I understand that this is an old car.... My only issue with Chris is that Its not in as good a shape as he described it in the AD. He really left alot of things out that he should have told me. $5600.00 may not be alot of money to some people / Chris, but its a hell of alot of money to me. I just feel that Chris really misrepresented the car all together. He is not a very honest person, I'm sorry to say. He also said to me that he will not leave me any feedback until I leave it first."I don't understand this at all". I thought the only thing that I had to do to get my positive feedback was send him all the money as we agreed, well I've done exactlly what he has asked of me, he has been paid in full for the car and now he wants me to leave him his feedback first. Well to be honest with you my feedback to him will not be very positive, I think this is why he wants me to leave it first. THIS IS TOTALLY NOT FAIR. I am strongly considering filing a complaint with E-bay. And I am prepared to take photographs of all the issues the car has, that chris failed to disclose to the buyer.

1964 Ford Galaxie: A great collectible car to own or drive

01/04/11
• Overall Satisfaction:
B"H

If you are looking for an early 1960s Ford Galaxie, I recommend the 1964 as the best of these years. Ford's quality control was tightened up each year from 1957 until by 1964, the full-size line was mechanically bulletproof. You have a choice of a six cylinder, small block 289 V8, or a number of "FE" series big-block V8s.

Most desireable and rare are the Galaxie 500/XLs, but a similar Galaxie 500 will give you the same basic package at a lower price.

The 1964 Galaxie 500/XL 2 door hardtop was the best-selling XL ever made, and their durability means they are fairly common and certainly less pricey than a comparable '64 Chevy Impala SS. The four door hardtop is also extremely attractive, room, comfortable, and in XL trim, sporty. It can be had at a lower price than the two-door models.

Some changes for 1964 include new sculpted styling, "Sports Roof" fastback styling for all closed models, restyled upholstery. The ignition key was moved from the left, to the right side of the steering wheel. The 260 cubic-inch V8 from 1963 was replaced by the 289, which proved to be a more reliable engine.

Buyers had a choice of three- or four-speed manual transmission, or Fordomatic two speed automatic, or Cruise-O-Matic three speed auto, which was a better tranny.

Having drven a low-mileage original Galaxie 500 4-door hardtop, I was quite impressed by the ride as well as the handling, which was amazingly tight for a such a large car. Good looks, lots of vintage chrome, a reliable design, and good availability of parts, including reproduction, NOS, and used, makes the '64 Galaxie a great collectible car to own. Whether you are planning on owning a concours condition restored car, a clean, low-mileage original, a daily driver, or a project car that you'd like to restore, the '64 full size Ford is a great car!

1964 Ford Galaxie: LIED TO BY SELLER!!! FLYWHEEL RING GEAR STRIPPED

04/07/10

• Quality and Craftsmanship:
THIS SELLER TOLD ME ' IT RUNS GREAT" AND STARTS RIGHT UP, BUT WHEN HE DROPPED IT OFF IT WOULD NOT EVEN CRANK OVER!!! He even hid the console plate in his truck! Then when we put a battery in it and jumped across the solenoid, the starter spun free!! Car would NOT start. We later removed the starter (which was the wrong one) and saw his hillbilly mechanic rigged the WRONG ONE in there and it knocked the ring gear off the flywheel! He would NOT help me with the cost of anything! He LIED to me, and even JUMPED the title (title division already investigating) car NOT as listed, AVOID this scheister!!! he has a moron of a mechanic. We fortunately were able to fix the ring gear with the transmission in the car, or we WOULD HAVE HAD TO PULL THE TRANSMISSION!!! what a liar!!!!! He is lucky he lives so far away, my family is MAD as a hornet at this scammer. He will get his someday, what goes around COMES AROUND!

1964 Ford Galaxie: car is undriveable, seller was deceptive, car is junk

08/29/09
• Overall Satisfaction:
After many conversations with seller, I was led to believe car was in primo condition - I even sent a mechanic friend in Miami to check car but it was not at sellers location so we never could see car to confirm sellers claims. It also took over 2 weeks to receive car - seller had several excuses for delays. I bought car 8/10/09 and recived it late afternoon 8/28/09. I would not recommend buying a car from EUROPEAN MOTOR SALES in Miami. I bought the car as a result of excellent description by salesman which proved to be exagerated.

1964 Ford Galaxie: 1964 galaxie parts

03/11/08
• Overall Satisfaction:
I guess what you want is how I like the 1964 Galaxie that I bought. All I bought it for was a sample car for the convertable that I'm restoring. It seems to be more together than most of the ones that I've seen for parts cars. I love the type of car anyway and this one will go back on the road someday also.
