1986 Chevrolet El Camino: Cheverolet El Camino

02/04/08
• Overall Satisfaction:
I recently purchased my first El Camino and am extremely happy I did so. Everyone needs a pickup or something to run to Home Depot or Lowes in, the El Camino is the perfect vehicle. The vehicle offers the comfort and ride of a car and the hauling capacity of a light duty pickup. Another great thing to consider is that if you don’t over pay for the vehicle, it will not depreciate.

1986 Chevrolet El Camino: Love it or hate it.

02/12/08
• Overall Satisfaction:
I bought my El Camino about 2 years ago and have been replacing parts on it since the first couple weeks. The first to go out was the radiator and water pump. All my windows leak except the back. It also has a short that when I put on the brakes the dash and headlights turn on. The original 305 lost 2 pistons at 79,000 mi. but it still ran but smoked really bad. (Chevy can make a pretty die hard motor) I replaced it with a 350 from a 78 C-10. Everything under the hood is new but the alternator and power steering (which is on its way out) I like Elcos but I havent had alot of luck with mine but is a neat and handy vehicle to own if you dont mind going through hell to keep it goin.

1964 Chevrolet El Camino: Always have a pre-purchase inspection performed.

I bought the car because the numerous pictures of it were beautiful. The long narrative of it describe the car as museum quality and went on about it's superlative condition. When the car arrive it barely ran and I could only select two gears. The car was unsafe and not street legal. It had no wipers, turn signals, horn,or running lights. I drove the car about 50 miles to and from the DMV and the repair shop where it remains today having its front suspension rebuilt. The car was fraudulently represented and I estimate I paid $10,000 too much for this "project car".

My brother-in-law picked up the El Camino for me and I don't have it yet. I'm picking it up from him in May ad will be able to review then. He said it's in good condition and runs fine...that's all I know at this time.

1965 Chevrolet El Camino: Own, but ready for a change.

I bought one in 2004 for my husband from a guy in Oregon...which was really a big chance since I had no idea what I was getting into. It was a good start though. My husband is pretty mechanical when it comes to fixing cars, so over the years hes done pretty much anything and everything to it. Old cars are fun, great to look at, and can be expensive but you just have to look around for deals...gotta remember its a 47 year old car...things break especially if you dont remember its an old car! I'm ready for a change though, you can only do so much to these cars.

I found the car was not as advertised. Let the buyer beware. It is a good car just not as good as reported. Still I can make it better for not too much money. So in the long run am satisfied.

1966 Chevrolet El Camino: many problems

I can't get past the sellers lies to write an honest review of his product. When you buy and old vehicle, make sure you go look at it. Take it to a mechanic to have it checked out. In my case the frame was broken. Which a mechanic would not have found. Only a frame shop. Which was the case here. Do not trust anybody selling on ebay. Or anybody trying to get rid of there junk. Make sure you know what you are buying.

To whom it may concern. I couldn't have may a better purchase from a better person. I brought this car in Tampa FL and drove it to Baton Rouge, LA stoping only to get gas. I didn't have a problem then, and I haven't had one since I purchase the car.
