I bought one in 2004 for my husband from a guy in Oregon...which was really a big chance since I had no idea what I was getting into. It was a good start though. My husband is pretty mechanical when it comes to fixing cars, so over the years hes done pretty much anything and everything to it. Old cars are fun, great to look at, and can be expensive but you just have to look around for deals...gotta remember its a 47 year old car...things break especially if you dont remember its an old car! I'm ready for a change though, you can only do so much to these cars.

I bought this vehicle primarily because it was listed as a running 327 engine. When I picked up the auto it did run enough to get on the trailer but that was OK. When we broke down the engine, the block was a 283 and verified by 2 machine shops. Like 1 said, I bought it because of the motor and if it was listed as a 283, I would have not bid on it. I have tried several times to get in contact with the ebay seller but to no avail. I live over 200 miles away. I would not buy anything from this seller as he does not accurately list his article. I am having a lawyer contact him.

1965 Chevrolet El Camino: UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES FROM AN INHERITED VEHICLE!

02/09/11
• Overall Satisfaction:
IT WAS A GOOD PRICE ON A GOOD YEAR VEHICLE. BUT, THE SELLER DIDN'T KNOW OF THE CONDITION SINCE HE INHERITED IT. THE FRAME HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BEEN PATCHED, MAKING THE VEHICLE WORTH MUCH LESS SINCE IT NEEDS A FRAME TO BE OPERABLE.

IT SEEMS EVERY AUCTION I'VE WON HAS BEEN MISREPRESENTED. EVERYONE THINKS THAT WHAT THEY ARE SELLING IS IN TOP CONDITION WHEN IT IS NOT. I'VE FOUND REAL ESTATE UNDER WATER. I'VE FOUND BODY WORK AND PAINT WORK APPEARING TO HAD BEEN DONE BY A PRE-SCHOOLER. I'VE FOUND ENGINES KNOCKING SO BAD I COULD NOT BELEIVE THEY STILL RAN. FORTUNATELY ON THIS LAST ONE, I DID NOT HAVE TO WASTE THE EXPENSE TO FLY THERE TO EXAMINE IT AND FIND IT MIS-REPRESENTED.

THANKS,
TOM

1965 Chevrolet El Camino: Have it inspected befor you buy.

01/01/10
• Overall Satisfaction:
This is a great looking Elcamino. I bought it because the ad stated all it needs to be perfect is the gas gauge to be grounded and a radio And some other minor things. Well when the car was backed off the transport it had very little brakes, as the rear brake shoes had been installed incorrectly. The other minor Thing was a new motor as the one it had was run without being primed correctly with oil after not being run for three years. The front springs where bad and had to be replaced. The ad stated the air is ice cold well he must have been talking about the air out side, as it was not working at all.The rear end is shot and needs to be replaced. The carb was leaking gas I was advised not to repair it so I now have a new one. Well I can now drive the car to find out what other minor things are needed. So far only Three about thousand in minor things and not done yet.
